Welcome to our learning and advocacy space! We are continuously updating this page with educational materials and local resources to help protect street animals and support responsible pet care across Armenia. Check back regularly for new updates, infographics, and community toolkits.
Education and advocacy are the true keys to ending animal suffering. Rescuing one animal saves a life today, but educating a community prevents thousands from needing rescue tomorrow.
Pillar 1: Why Spay & Neuter Matters
Preventing Suffering: A single unspayed female dog and her offspring can produce up to 67,000 puppies in just six years. Sterilization stops this cycle before it starts.
Health Benefits: Spaying and neutering reduces the risk of reproductive cancers, eliminates life-threatening uterine infections (pyometra), and reduces territorial aggression and roaming.
Safer Communities: Sterilized street dogs are calmer, healthier, and far less likely to form aggressive packs or transmit diseases.
Pillar 2: Responsible Community Pet Care
Spaying & Neutering Owned Pets: Sterilization isn't just for street dogs. Spaying or neutering your family pets prevents unwanted litters, eliminates roaming behaviors, and reduces health risks like uterine infections and cancers.
Microchipping & Identification: A microchip is a permanent, safe form of identification. If a pet wanders off or gets lost, a chip ensures they can be identified and returned home safely rather than ending up on the streets.
Vaccination & Deworming: Protecting pets and family members from rabies, parvovirus, and internal parasites through timely, routine preventative care.
Nutrition & Hydration: Providing clean, daily water and proper nutrition, while avoiding toxic items common in household leftovers (such as cooked bones, onions, garlic, and heavy spices).
Humane Care & Shelter: Ensuring pets have warm, dry shelter during freezing winters and shade in the summer, while advocating against short, heavy tie-outs that cause physical strain and distress.
Pillar 3: Living Safely Alongside Street Animals
Understanding Body Language: Teaching adults and children how to read a dog's signals (relaxed vs. fearful vs. protective) to prevent bites.
Safe Feeding Practices: Establishing designated feeding spots away from busy traffic roads, private entrances, or high-density pedestrian walkways to keep both animals and neighbors safe.
