For many rescued animals, a foster home is the first safe place they have ever known.
Fostering gives a dog or cat the chance to heal, feel safe, and experience love while they wait for their forever family. A warm bed, a full bowl, and a little patience can completely change an animal’s future.
At Harvey’s Rescue House, our foster families are an essential part of our mission. Without fosters, we cannot rescue more animals in need.
As a foster, you provide a temporary home for a rescued animal while we work to find their forever family.
Depending on the animal’s needs, fostering may include:
🐾 Providing food, water, and a safe place to rest
🐾 Helping them adjust to life indoors
🐾 Giving them patience, comfort, and affection
🐾 Helping them build confidence and trust
🐾 Providing basic care and observing their personality
🐾 Sharing photos and updates to help them find their forever home
🐾 Taking them to veterinary appointments when needed
Every animal is different. Some may need time to recover from neglect or life on the streets, while others may simply need a safe place to wait for their family.
“What if I get attached?”
It’s completely normal to fall in love with your foster animal. Saying goodbye can be emotional, but remember: by helping them find their forever home, you are giving them the future they deserve.
And sometimes… foster families discover they were meant to be forever families too. ❤️
“Do I need experience?”
No. You do not need to be an expert. We provide guidance and support throughout the fostering process.
A caring heart, patience, and willingness to learn are the most important things.
“How long does fostering last?”
Every animal’s journey is different. Some may only need a few weeks, while others may need longer depending on their health, personality, and adoption timeline.
We will always communicate with you and support you along the way.
“What does Harvey’s Rescue House provide?”
We work with our foster families to support the needs of each animal. Medical care and adoption coordination are handled by our rescue team, and we will discuss supplies and responsibilities before fostering begins.
Our ideal foster homes are:
Safe and caring environments
Patient with animals who may need time to adjust
Willing to provide updates and communicate with our team
Able to commit time and attention to a rescued dog
You don't need a perfect home, just a loving one.
